Wastewater
Treatment
In order
to meet the challenges of environmentally sound wastewater disposal, The Enviro
Group is prepared to undertake the following activities:
- Compare advantages
of gravity collection versus pressure sewer system. Design economically
optimized sewer collection system
- Assess the relative
merits of on-site versus off-site treatment. Consider point of discharge
impacts, regulatory limitations, and overall costs
- Select and design
pre-treatment alternatives:
- Screening
- Grit removal
- Sedimentation
- Pre-aeration
- Scum removal
- Evaluate biological
treatment alternatives, such as:
- Activated sludge
- Rotating biological
surface
- Oxidation ditch
- Trickling filter
- Batch reactor
- Design the selected
biological system, including:
- Sizing of tanks
- Aeration system
- Pumping systems
- Clarification
- Design the selected
biological system, including:
- Sizing of the
tanks
- Aeration system
- Pumping
systems and the
- Clarification
- Utilize physical-chemical
processes to enhance biological system performance:
- Neutralization
- Nutrient addition
- Metal precipitation
- Additional clarification
- Determine
the need for tertiary treatment and design appropriate components including:
- Polishing filters
- Nutrient removing
biological systems
- Post-aeration
- Evaluate chlorination/dechlorination
versus ozonation to destroy any residual bacterial/viral biomass prior to
wastewater discharge. Ensure that adequate exposure/contact occurs for complete
kill-off
- Dispose of precipitated
and biological solids, considering the available disposal alternatives and
the appropriate treatment, such as:
- Thickening
- Filtration
- Aerobic or anaerobic
digestion
- Drying beds
- Incineration
- Evaluate each alternative
on basis of cost effectiveness and long-term environmental impact
