Hydrological Studies

 

Since water is a very pervasive migrating substance in the environment, almost any activity or investigation requires a study of some aspect of the hydrological cycle. The Enviro Group will undertake any of the following activities in pursuit of a better understanding of the relevant project environment:

• Establish background data on the chemical composition of the water in the study area and design in-situ water quality monitoring systems
• Identify the locations and the quantities of water currently being used for various purposes

• Estimate the amount of water that will be used during the next 50 and 100-year periods

Surface Water

• Identify surface water sources, streams, perennial and ephemeral flows, springs, etc.
• Quantify stream flow and flood records
• Collect data on rainfall, runoff and evapotranspiration

• Design and implement customized, modular water treatment systems.

Groundwater

• Conduct regional hydrogeological reconnaissance of area and specific study sites
• Establish groundwater availability based on real extent, thickness, and interrelationships among the various geologic units within the hydrogeologic study area
• Establish a network of monitoring wells in the unsaturated and saturated zones of the study area
• Establish potentiometric levels:
  • Data on matrix potentials of unsaturated zone
  • Measuring water levels and monitoring their variations over time in the saturated zone

• Establish background chemical composition of groundwater in the study area
